PARKING:
The first three (3) parking spots in the parking lot are RESERVED, even though there may be no signage. Please do not park there. They are reserved for building staff. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. There is plenty of parking in the main parking lot. There is also parking behind the building as well. However, if the class size is large, you may need to use street parking. The church is located in a residential area and there are NO street parking meters. However, there IS alternate side of the street parking. PLEASE take note of the signs, as one of our members has received a parking ticket in the past.
ARRIVAL:
Visitors to our professional classes should plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to class start time. This will allow you time to check-in with the class coordinator and let your student settle into the classroom. Coats can be hung in the vestibule area to the left upon entering the building. The Wi-Fi password is posted on one of the bulletin boards in the same area and the bathrooms are also located on this ground level.
WAITING:
Parents/siblings are invited to remain onsite during the class time. We have two (2) sitting rooms and a kitchen area to sit/work in. We may also have an empty classroom available upstairs, depending upon class schedules. There is also a playground outside for younger siblings. Our homeschool cooperative rents certain rooms from the facility. If you are unsure if the room is available for use, please ask.
LUNCH:
If you are staying for lunch, we ask that parents supervise their children and clean up any lunch messes. Eating is allowed in the designated areas only (kitchen, designated rooms and outdoors). Classrooms may be used as an overflow area. All classroom doors are to remain open during the lunch hour (12pm-1pm)
CONDUCT:
We ask that children conduct themselves in the same manner they would in any public place, such as a library.
PARENT PARTICIPATION:
We welcome you to sit in on any of the classes that your child is registered for. However, we request that parents maintain an inconspicuous presence in the class. Please sit behind students, refrain from asking questions or participating in the class discussion. We would like to give each instructor the time and space to develop his/her own relationship with each child in class and set the tone of the classroom each week. If you need to speak or discipline your own child, please leave the classroom quietly to do so. Bring any classroom management issues to our attention (not the instructor) after the class.
There may also be a situation where we may ask you sit in class with your child if there are classroom management issues. We will solicit constant feedback from the instructor, parents, and kids each week, to ensure that the class is an educational and enriching experience for all of the students in the class. Thank you for your help in this regard.
