Participation: You can participate in our cooperative in one of two (2) ways: 1) as a non-member or 2) as a prospective member.
Non-members can sign up for classes for the fees posted and there is no additional obligation!
Prospective Members: Our Co-op is open to all families. To ensure that we are a good fit for your family, there is a session-long trial membership period. This commences after your initial visit should you wish to continue.
All members start with a trial membership and are permitted to attend our 'non-professional classes' for $25/month during the session-long trial membership. Prospective members usually register for at least one of our professional classes, stay for lunch, hang out and talk with parents and kids before/after classes. This way they can get a good sense as to whether membership is a good fit for them. The professional classes are usually free for members and are a perk, available only after your trial membership is complete and both you and the co-op feel that your membership would be a good fit. Prospective members should be interested in joining a community, helping sustain it and working cooperatively to offer quality education.
Sustaining our cooperative includes, but is not limited to, setting up, cleaning up, administrative work, chaperones, baby sitting, event organizing and most importantly, teaching. We work cooperatively to accomplish all of these responsibilities.
Dues/Fees/Obligations:
If you decide to join our co-op, you pay a one-time $30 security deposit and an annual $20 insurance fee, along with monthly dues. Dues cover rent, class supplies and other ancillary needs. The security deposit is refundable if you choose to leave the co-op.
Dues are to be paid on the LAST Monday of every month as rent payment is on the FIRST Monday of the month. Dues can be paid in cash, check or via Paypal/Venmo/SquareCash. Monthly dues are $25/month per family. Please speak with the treasurer if you have questions.
As part of the extremely generous arrangement we have with the rental facility, HOTH is obligated to perform volunteer work as a group, not individually. This can include things such as painting, weeding, clean-up or other beautification tasks. Hours are to be determined.
What you can expect at HOTH:
The cooperative nature of our group extends to everything we do, teaching, administration, cleanup, finances etc. We require the parents to share teaching responsibilities and give volunteer time in some capacity to help sustain the cooperative.
We work to provide all of the children a positive educational experience, recognizing that our children have varying degrees of maturity. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, we agree to model cooperative behavior to our children.
